31st May online lecture by John Rattenbury: “ Sir William Burrell and his Collecting”

In this talk, John will review the history of Burrell and Sons, the tramp shipping company that gave Burrell the funds to develop his passion for antiquities and build his world class collection. Starting with Grandfather Burrell, then father and sons, the Burrell’s used bold business practices and innovations to make their fortune. A genuine connoisseur with a remarkable eye for quality, we will look at Sir William’s life-long passion, building a truly remarkable collection. 

John Rattenbury has been a guide at the Burrell Collection for over 15 years and is currently Guide Organiser.
